Amazon.com Product Description The PIXMA iP6210D Photo Printer combines beautiful image quality with exceptional printing versatility. One key to its impressive performance: Canon Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE) uses an innovative print head with 2,304 nozzles that eject consistent, precise ink droplets as small as two picoliters. It's simple: more nozzles with high accuracy equal amazing results. This patented technology produces an outstanding resolution of up to 4,800 x 1,200 dpi, for superb detail and photo-realism. And for increased color accuracy, high-intensity Photo Cyan and Photo Magenta have been added to the conventional four inks. You'll be amazed at your photo results. High performance doesn't stop there. You'll be able to print borderless photos with the look and feel of conventional photographs, in 4" x 6", 5" x 7" and 8.5" x 11" sizes. Now let's talk speed: printing a beautiful photo lab quality 4"x 6" borderless photo takes approximately 60 seconds. Plus, the USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface enables the fastest photo transfers possible from your computer. The PIXMA iP6210D's built-in slots let you print directly from compatible memory cards, and in this mode it automatically brightens your subjects' faces, corrects for red eye and increases sharpness, as needed. Or, you can print directly from your PictBridge compatible digital camera or DV camcorder, with automatic face brightening. The Canon ChromaLife100 system combines the PIXMA iP6210D Photo Printer's FINE print head technology and newly developed inks with select Canon photo papers, with results rivaling that of many conventional photos. These beautiful photos will also last up to 100 years when stored in an archival quality photo album. Great Pictures March 9, 2007 G. M. Rinderle 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I printed my pictures directly from my SD card and they turned out beautifully! High gloss photo paper and a good photographer make for gorgeous pictures when you print them out on this printer! Highly recommend!
A great economical multi-purpose printer -- when you've learned the system January 22, 2007 Dennis R. Jugan (Johnstown, PA United States) The Canon PIXMA iP6210D prints excellent documents and photos. BUT, as often happens, buyers make poor choices to suit their needs. This is NOT a production printer for photographs, although it produces excellent images on reasonable quality inkjet paper AND specialized photo papers. If you value quality over high speed; understand TCO (total cost of ownership); and can work reasonably well with your hands, THIS IS THE IDEAL PRINTER FOR YOU.
First, recognize that you are getting an electronically and mechanically sound machine. Second, realize that this printer comes ostensibly FREE OF CHARGE when purchasing a set of Canon FINE inkjet cartridges at a 33% discount -- MAKE SURE THEY ACCOMPANY THE PRINTER IN THE SAME SEALED BOX.
Recognize that these cartridges have limited ink capacity. However, when properly maintained, you can easily refill them WITH OEM QUALITY INKS between 6 - 10 times at a cost of less than $5.00 per set of cartridges.
Do the math, buy and learn the system, then save yourself a bundle of money in TCO while enjoying a very good printer.
GREAT PRINTER February 26, 2007 S. Tate 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
This is a great printer for making quick prints of your photos or other documents. For what I use it for the speed is okay. The only thing you might have to watch out for on this printer is the ink cartridges. Since a few colors are in the same cartridge, if you run out of one color you will have to replace the whole cartridge. Even if the other colors are still full. Other than that, a great printer for quick prints.
A little disappointed in my printer upgrade March 24, 2007 Dex L (San Ramon, CA USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have been using a Canon i550 for several years now printing calendars for my family around xmas time. Each calendar is 13 pages and I print about 20 of them (13 x 20 x 2 sides = 520) at high resolution. I use a lot of ink and the Canon cartridges are easy to refill. The print head died on the i550, so I searched for a new Canon that had similar ink cartridges to refill.
Several of the PIXMA series have cartridges that look the same with the small difference that they have a chip on them. Instead of doing a visual check of the cartridge to determine if ink is low, the chip tells the printer driver after so many prints. Lame, but manageable !
The i550 had 1200 nozzles (if I remember correctly) and the iP6210D has 4800 (again, if I remember correctly). Anyway, I was expecting prints to be much better than the i550. The prints seemed to be about the same, so the extra nozzles didn't seem to make much difference.
The form factor is about the same, but there are a lot more buttons and features available. I don't ever print directly from memory card, so a lot of the features I don't use.
I was also hoping that the print speed of the borderless 8.5 x 11 prints that I use for the calendar would be faster. This printer doesn't seem to print much faster than the older Canon.
Overall it's a good printer, but the quality probably isn't much better than one of the lower end PIXMA printers.
Canon printer February 26, 2007 David George (iowa) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I just received this canon printer this week, i tried it out over the weekend with the new digital camera that i got. personaly i can say that this printer works wonderful on photos. I am not sure how much ink it will use yet since i just got it, so that could be the down side to this printer. I also haven't tried to print any documents from this printer either, so that could be another down fall. I have to admit though i was a little worried about this printer printing pictures but the ones that i tried turned out wonderful. It is really a great printer for the price for what i can see. It also has two memory card slots that you can insert your memory card and print right from there, the only bad thing about it is that you have to know what picture number you want to print sinse there is no screen to view the picture. but you can also choose the option on the printer to print all of the pictures on your memory card. I hope this helps.
