Great Printer, Great Price June 11, 2010 J. Shaw (San Francisco, CA) I've used this printer for a few client projects now, and it hasn't disappointed. When working from home, this printer is a great home option that delivers excellent quality prints and photos. This is my first "investment" printer, and it is certainly a step up from my old HP all-in-one. Super easy installation for Mac users, as well. Just download the Snow Leopard drivers from the Epson site and five minutes later you're ready to go.
PROS: Excellent print quality, and stays pretty true to screen colors (not perfect, but as good as one can expect from a home computer). Easy installation, despite the other reviews (and I'm a technophobe, so if I can do it, anyone can!). Printing is very, very consistent when printing multiple copies. Excellent for graphics and photograph printing. This printer can also handle large sizes and different paper qualities, from photos to card stock to art papers.
CONS: None that I can think of, other than the inks do get expensive. As such, I would not recommend this printer for everyday stuff. The printer does not come with a cable, so you'll need to buy one if you don't already have one.
RECOMMENDATION: Use Epson papers with this printer---it does make a huge difference. If you use "normal" printing paper, you'll get disappointing results.
Epson 1400 Rocks! December 22, 2008 Robert C. Hamilton (New York, NY) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I just completed a BFA in Graphic Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. I had several senior design projects to complete. I was in need of printing large design samples for my final projects and wanted to avoid the crappy service at Kinko's and/or having to pay in excess for prints. What I wanted was control of the design and production process that would allow me to work from home.
Another colleague suggested that I consider purchasing this product as he and several others were very happy. Needless to say, I was pleased with the large format capacity and the length of the ink cartridges, along with the capability of printing your own CD ROM designs which give a very professional look.
I would suggest this to anyone who wants simplicity and freedom in producing their own design, prints or craft products.

Very Good Printer April 19, 2009 Lloyd Conaway (Mountain Iron, Mn. USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The Epson is a very good printer for photo printing in color but lacks a little in the black & white prints. It is nice to have a wide format photo printer that works like they say it will.. Made some nice pan pic with it and some poster's that really came out good.. Epson made the 1400 Photo like they have a lot other in the past, I would buy another printer from them any time I need something with excellent printing.. The 1400 is one nice printer for any price.. Amazon had it for the best price I could find..

Epson 1400 June 7, 2009 Dan Townsend (Encinitas) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This a great printer, it is fast and the colors are beautiful .
It seems to be a well designed .
I like the fact that the ink won't fade.
It doesn't need a lot of room to use it, things fold up nicely, like your paper bins.
For the price you can't beat it.
Excellent Quality September 30, 2008 J. Mangler 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The prints are fantastic quality. We use this as a dedicated photo printer. Always use the Epson ink and the highest quality papaer - it makes a difference.
Be aware that the printer is huge! If you're looking for a desktop, mulitpurpose, photo/document printer, don't buy this unit - it's just to large.
